Verdasco, currently ranked #8 in the world, made a big splash in the Australian Open when he beat Andy Murray and Jo Wilfried Tsonga en route to the semifinals where he took Rafael Nadal to 5 sets and a 6 hour match. He has not had great success in the past against Karlovic, with a head-to-head record of 1-2, but he has improved vastly since those matches. He is a better player than Karlovic and shines on the big stage of major tennis matches, and he will continue to shine.
